On your router, temporarily disable your 5 GHz wi-fi network. On your smartphone, "forget" your usual wi-fi network. Reset the Nanoleaf device by pressing the two buttons: "On/Off" and "Next >" at the same time for 10 seconds. (This should cause it to be available as wi-fi access point - you can check with your phone) On your smartphone enable wi-fi and Bluetooth. In the Nanoleaf app, click on "Add Device" and select "Manual" pairing (ie not NFC or QR code). The app should find your device. Then you are prompted the rest of the way.
