Computer Tips - DNS: Setup for a domain that only hosts a website.

Date: 2025oct26 Keywords: www, web, hosting Q. DNS: Setup for a domain that only hosts a website. A. Its normal to want example.com and www.example.com to both take users to the same site. Its not nice to have multiple "A" (address) records. So I think this is the best way:
@ A 192.168.100.1 (Tells everyone the IP-address of your site) www CNAME example.com. (See example.com for www.example.com)
Literally put @ to mean the name of your domain. Replace example.com with the name of your domain. Replace 192.168.100.1 with your site's IP-address. The wwww withOUT a dot on the right means a subdomain - eg www.example.com
