Date: 2010jan17 OS: Windows Q. My XP laptop always prompts me to install an update when I shutdown. How can I fix this? A. This worked for me. I looked in the Event Viewer and saw the update for KB928365 was failing. This is an update for dot-net. So I downloaded and install dotnetfx.exe and there was no prompt next shutdown.
